Show me your mustache!

movember_pola

Summer is around the corner...well not for us but for my beautiful Aussie friends. When comes summer in Australia, it usually means that you have approximatively one dress up party per week. In four years time, I have probably been invited to at least 50 but I will remember one of them that was really something incredibly amazing: The Movember party. Not only you have 6000 happy party animals dressed up in their best outfits ever, but you also helping a good cause to fight against cancer and men heath in general. It all started in Australia 9 years ago and it's now crossing borders to the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and Spain.

So what the hell is Movember? Men register to the Movember event alone or as part of team, they start growing their mustache and keep going until the end of November. As they go, they can show off their beautiful mustache on their "Mo Space"; that's also where friends and family can sponsor you and donate a few dollars. When I was living in Sydney, I was amazed by the number of people that got involved and that really supported the event through donations and by giving their time. I reckon this campaign is a very creative & exciting way of making men aware of health issues and specifically prostate cancer.

Towards the end of the month, when all the mustaches are almost in shape, the well known Movember Gala Party is taking place in several cities all around the world. From what I have experienced, I can tell you it's the biggest dress up party I have ever been to! All the Mo Bros are coming with their Mo Sisters which make it even more fun. Check out some of the photos from last year and 2006.
